Alexandria Vera is a 24 year-old teacher who has found herself in hot water after she was caught having a months-long sexual relationship with her 13 year-old student.

According to Daily Caller, Vera was an English teacher at Thomas J. Stovall Middle School in Houston, Texas when she began her courtship of the eighth grade student last year during summer school with some flirting and a bit of texting. In September, the student asked Vera if they could spend some time together off campus, so she picked him up at his home and the two began making out.

The next day, Vera came to the boy’s house when his parents weren’t home and the two had sex for the first time. Court documents say the sex continued “on almost a daily basis at her home” from mid-September through January of 2016.

In October, the parents of the boy met Vera at an open house for the school. The next day, she went to their home and told them that she was their son’s girlfriend. The court documents reveal that the parents were “accepting of their relationship” and invited the teacher over to the house for “family gatherings.” They also let the boy spend the night at her home frequently.

In January, Vera, who is already the mother of one, became pregnant with the boy’s child. When she informed his family, they were “very supportive and excited about the baby.” However, Vera had an abortion after officials with Houston’s Child Protective Services showed up at Stovall Middle School to investigate allegations of her relationship with the 13-year-old male student.

Initially, Vera denied the accusations against her, but she later gave in and admitted to having sex with the boy. She now faces a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child, but police have not been able to arrest her due to the fact that she is on the run. Authorities have no idea where she is.

“Horrible for any father or any family member going through this situation,” Gerson Bonilla, a father in the area, told KPRC-TV. “When you send your kid to the school you think everything will be safe for them and everything.”

“Aldine ISD has been made aware that charges have been filed against a former Stovall Middle School teacher involved in inappropriate behavior with a male student,” the school said in a statement, obtained by Houston ABC affiliate KTRK-TV, reads. “When the allegation was made in April, the teacher was immediately removed from the school and placed on administrative leave.”

“The safety and security of Aldine ISD’s students and staff remains a priority of the school district,” the statement continued.
