Hillary Clinton’s campaign went into panic mode this week after a Democratic mayor who publicly endorsed her was arrested for trading methamphetamine for sexual favors.

Mayor Richard “Scott” Silverthorne is a 50 year-old former substitute teacher who is mayor of Fairfax City, Virginia. The Political Insider was arrested in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Tysons Corner, just a few miles away from the White House. Fairfax County police said in a statement that they launched an investigation about a possible methamphetamine distributor after getting a tip in July.

Police quickly identified a suspect distributing methamphetamine through a website used to arrange for casual sexual encounters between men. An undercover detective made a profile on the site and made contact with the suspect, who turned out to be Silverthorne.

CBS News reported that Silverthorne told the undercover operative that he could provide methamphetamine for sexual encounters, so undercover detectives agreed to meet for a group sexual encounter in exchange for methamphetamine. They met Silverthorne at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in McLean on Thursday and arrested him immediately after he gave them the drug.

Police later tracked down and arrested Silverthorne’s suppliers Juan Jose Fernandez, 34, and Caustin Lee McLaughlin, 21, of Maryland.
