In recent weeks, anti-American football players like Colin Kaepernick have made headlines for launching protests against the United States. On the anniversary of 9/11 this past Sunday, however, two New York Giants wide receivers shows that not all NFL players are against America.

According to Conservative Tribune, Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz paid tribute to 9/11 victims by wearing patriotic cleats. The cleats each depicted the American flag, with Cruz’s cleats specifically honoring the New York Fire Department. Beckham’s  showed American eagles and images of the collapsed towers.

Unfortunately, this patriotic move has put their careers at risk, with The New York Times reporting that the NFL threatened to fine any players who did not wear their standard regulation footgear during games $6,076.00 for their first such offense.

However, Beckham and Cruz didn’t give a hoot about a potential fine. To them, it was worth it to honor their country in a beautiful way.

Frankly, it makes us sick that players in the NFL are fined for honoring their country, while players like Kaepernick are given no punishment for disrespecting the national anthem. What do you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
