Earlier this month, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick made headlines when he refused to stand as the national anthem played before a game. Within 24 hours, fans were burning his jersey to let him know that what he did was wrong.

Kaepernick tried to defend his shameful show of disrespect by race-baiting.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” he said of his protest. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

On Monday night, the Philadelphia Eagles joined Kaepernick when three of their players launched their own protest of the national anthem. Unfortunately for them, however, this just came back to bite them in a big way.

Forbes reported that the last two football games that NBC aired on Sunday their lowest ratings in seven years. Monday’s Eagles game, which is usually the league’s showcase, also saw a significant ratings drop.

According to Conservative Tribune, Sunday night’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers got a 13.7/22 in the ratings, down 18% from last year and 9% from the season opener. Monday night’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears was down 11% in viewership from last year.

This came after Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins told the press that members of his team would be protesting the national anthem by raising their fists during it.

“For me, it has nothing to do with this country or the flag or the anthem in itself,” Jenkins told a radio station prior to the game. “Really, it’s just to continue to push for the conversation about social injustice. And that’s a range of things from police brutality to wages and job opportunities to education. It’s just a lot of things systematically that have been set up in this country, since its inception, that really put minorities, especially African-Americans, at a disadvantage, when you’re talking about quality of life and actually growing in this country.”

We’re glad to see that these players are finally being punished for their race-baiting. SHARE if you think they should be BANNED by the NFL!
