Just one day after the devastating Orlando shooting that left 49 people dead, the University of Toronto has been placed on lockdown following reports that an armed man wearing a mask was seen near campus.
According to The Political Insider, police responded to calls at 9:06 a.m. saying that a suspicious person with his or her head covered was walking around campus.
“In light of this weekend we will treat it at its highest priority,” said Victor Kwong, a media relations officer for the Toronto Police Service.”We dispatched ATF, emergency task force, we dispatched our canine and our local division.”
Another caller said they say the man in the mask carrying a gun. Authorities evacuated some buildings and placed others on a “hold and secure” status, which means people weren’t told to hide under their desks but they weren’t allowed to leave or enter the buildings.
