Michelle Obama began the two-day leg of her multi-million dollar vacation to Africa in Morocco on Tuesday, and there she is set to make a shocking announcement.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Michelle is about to announce details of the nearly $100 million in funding from the Millennium Challenge Corporation which will go towards creating a new model for secondary education. Aides disclosed that the money will be used to fund mentoring programs, internships, afterschool clubs, upgraded bathrooms for girls and “gender-responsive” training for teachers to change the way curriculum is delivered.
Michelle will also discuss the $400,000 from the U.S. Agency for International Development that will be used to build five dormitories for girls. She will be joined in making the announcement by Hollywood A-listers Meryl Streep and Freida Pinto.
This is all part of Michelle’s lavish six day vacation that she is taking with her daughters and mother. The women began their trip in Liberia before moving on to Morocco late last night. They will travel to Spain on Thursday before heading home to Washington D.C. on Friday. Of course, this entire trip is being funded with our tax dollars.
