Fans of the legendary cartoon The Jetsons after it was revealed that actress Janet Waldo passed away on Sunday morning. She was 96 years-old.
According to Daily Mail, Waldo voiced the character of the Jetson’s teenage daughter Judy in the popular television show, which ran from September 23, 1962, to March 17, 1963. The show continued to run in syndication for decades, with new episodes being added from 1985 to 1987 as part of The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera block. It can still be viewed on Amazon to this day.
Throughout her career, Waldo voiced many Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters, including the lead in The Perils Of Penelope Pitstop and Josie in Josie And The Pussycats. She also played various roles in The Flintstones, most notably the character Pearl Slaghoople.
Waldo continued working into her late 70s, with one of her final roles being a guest spot in 1998 in the adult animated TV series King Of The Hill.
Her final role came in 2000, when she reprised the ever youthful Penelope Pitstop in a Wacky Races video game at the ripe old age of 80.
Waldo’s daughter Lucy Lee told ABC News that her mother had been diagnosed with a benign but inoperable brain tumor five years ago. Please keep your thoughts and prayers with her family during this difficult time!
