A few days ago, Fox Sports anchor Emily Austen made headlines when a clip of her making racists comments about Mexicans and other ethnicities in a Facebook Live video of “Barstool Sports” went viral. Now, Fox has confirmed that they have fired the 27 year-old reporter.
“With the whole girl…I didn’t even know Mexicans were that smart,” Austen said in the video, according to Latin Times.
Realizing she’d made a mistake, Austen tried to fix things, but ended up just making it a whole lot worse.
“I know that’s f*ed up! I didn’t mean it like that, but you see that…I mean, you guys know that the Chinese guys are always the smartest guys in math class,” she added stereotyping Chinese people.
After receiving tons of backlash, Austen desperately took to Twitter to apologize.

However, Fox Sports has since confirmed that she has been fired.
“We were made aware that Emily Austen appeared in a social media video unaffiliated with Fox Sports in which she made insensitive and derogatory comments,” Fox Sports Florida General Manager Steve Tello said in a statement. “She was not speaking on behalf of Fox Sports, nor do we condone any of the statements she made in the video.”
“Emily has been advised that her comments were unacceptable, and she is not scheduled to appear on any upcoming Fox Sports Florida or Fox Sports Sun broadcasts,” he added.
