With the Republican National Convention just a few weeks away, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump spent the weekend vetting two new potential running mates.
While many reports claimed that Trump had narrowed his Vice Presidential race down to Newt Gingrich and Chris Christie, he reportedly spent the weekend focusing on two other candidates. According to Western Journalism, Trump spent Sunday with Indiana Governor Mike Pence.
“Spent time with Indiana Governor Mike Pence and family yesterday,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Very impressed, great people!”

Pence’s spokesman Marc Lotter said that though the meeting was productive, “nothing was offered” as far as a VP position.
Later on, Trump announced that he would be spending Independence Day with Iowa Senator Joni Ernst.
“I look forward to meeting @joniernst today in New Jersey. She has done a great job as Senator of Iowa!” he wrote on Twitter.
Ernst refuses to reveal specifics of the meeting, only saying that it was a “good conversation.”
