Barack Hussein Obama is constantly talking about how transparent his government is, but stories like this prove that is not the case at all.
According to Conservative Tribune, Obama’s FBI has ordered police officers in Orlando not to allow access to documents pertaining to the June 12 Orlando terror attack, even though the media and public are entitled access to those documents under Florida law. The FBI issued the order in a June 20 letter, which was sent to the City of Orlando and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, demanding that they “immediately notify the FBI of any requests your agency received” so that “the FBI can seek to prevent disclosure through appropriate channels, as necessary,” the Orlando Sentinel reported.
The letter was released to the public thanks to a lawsuit filed by the Sentinel and 24 other media outlets, over authorities’ refusal to turn over 911 calls and other records of the June 12 attack at the Pulse nightclub, which killed 49 people. The document was discovered on Tuesday when the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office sent the Sentinel that letter in response to its requests for information.
“(The) FBI doesn’t have the authority to hijack Florida’s constitution, which guarantees us a right of access to all non-exempt public records,” said Barbara Petersen, president of the First Amendment Foundation.
“The Federal Bureau of Investigation … has a strong interest in protecting such information and records from public disclosure until such time as the risks associated with their disclosure have expired,” the letter went on to state. “As you know, this is an active, on-going (sic) investigation being conducted by the FBI. The FBI considers information obtained from state and local law enforcement agencies in furtherance of its investigation to be evidence, or potential evidence.”
“Accordingly, the FBI is concerned that public disclosure of such records or information at this time will adversely affect our ability to effectively investigate the shooting and bring the matter to resolution; could endanger the safety of witnesses, law enforcement officers, and other individuals who have participated in or are otherwise connected with the investigation; and risks unduly prejudicing any prosecutions that may result from the investigation,” it continued.
This isn’t the first time since the Orlando tragedy that Obama has made it clear that he thinks he can overrule Florida’s public transparency laws. His administration previously tried to censor the 911 tapes in which shooter Omar Mateen pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group.
Keeping the truth about this shooting from the American people is low, even for Obama. What do you think of his latest move? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
