The family of country music legend Trace Adkins are calling for prayers after he relapsed into his alcohol addiction while performing at a recent St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital fundraiser.
Though Adkins has struggled with alcoholism for decades, he had been sober the last few months. According to Fox News, however, Adkins was slumped over and slurring his words during most of his performance at the children’s hospital. The performance was so bad that many people walked out of it.
“You couldn’t hear him except for him mumbling,” one concertgoer told APP.com. “My girlfriend said ‘I think he’s drunk or something’ and everyone was picking up their chairs and leaving.”
“Praying for him to overcome his demons because he is a talented man. However, coming on stage in the condition he did, and singing [‘Whoop a Man’s A–‘] in front of children at a St Jude’s concert was disrespectful to the foundation and the kids,” someone commented on Thunder 106’s Facebook page.
According to American News, Adkins has apologized to the charity for his behavior and donated his entire performance fee back to them, but it’s clear he needs to get his life together himself. The country music star has been in and out of rehab for decades, most recently in 2014, and it’s clear he needs to go back.
Please say a prayer for Adkins and his family as he continues to battle his demons.
