Hillary Clinton’s shortlist for her running mate has finally leaked, and there are some very surprising names that are in the running.
According to Western Journalism, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) have emerged as frontrunners in the race to become Clinton’s Vice President. The Washington Post reported that Clinton has been praising both of these men’s accomplishments to her fellow Democrats and placing a high level of importance on them both.
Vilsack and Kaine both have governing experience that would give Clinton more credibility in the general election. Insiders say that “experience” is what Clinton considers to be the most important attribute in a Vice President. Clinton discussed what she is looking for in a Vice President during a recent interview with PBS’s Charlie Rose
“Would this person be a good president?” she said.“You know, I am afflicted with the responsibility gene and I know what it’s like being president. I’ve seen it up close, I’ve worked for one, I’ve had that experience. So for me there is nothing more important than my rock-solid conviction that the person I choose could literally get up one day and be the president of the United States.”
