Throughout Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, his daughter Ivanka has become one of the most popular people on his team as voters on both sides of the political spectrum find her relatable. That’s why it came as devastating news to Trump supporters this week when she has no plans to take a position in her father’s White House if he wins.
“No, I don’t intend to be part of the government,” Ivanka told Fast Company in an interview released Monday.
Daily Mail reported that this comes after Trump himself has publicly said he’s thought about appointing Ivanka to his administration. When talking about who he will put on his cabinet, Trump said, “Well, there are so many different ones to choose, I can tell you everybody would say ‘Put Ivanka in! Put Ivanka in! You know that, right?'”
“She’s very popular, she’s done very well. And you know Ivanka very well,” Trump continued. “But there really are so many that are talented people, like you.”
Ivanka has established herself as a fair but tough presence on Trump’s campaign. She even pushed back against Fast Company for referring to her as a “surrogate wife,” likely referencing the fact that Ivanka Trump is on the campaign trail more than her dad’s wife Melania.
It’s “deeply offensive,” Ivanka said of the word. “I feel that that’s a very sexist thing to say.”
