A petition has gone viral this week calling for a meteorologist to be fired over comments she made on live television while discussing the hurricane in Haiti.
Mediaite reported that the Weather Channel’s Jennifer Delgado was talking about Hurricane Matthew when she said the lack of trees in Haiti was a result of deforestation and children eating them.
Yes, you read that correctly…
“Even the kids there, they’re so hungry, they actually eat the trees!” Delgado said.
Viewers were immediately offended by the comment, and a petition was launched on trying to get Delgado fired. Delgado took to Facebook to apologize:
But her apology came too late, as the petition now has over 10,000 signatures and counting. Here is an excerpt of what the launcher, Jonathan Francois, wrote:
NO, HAITIANS DO NOT EAT TREES. Get your facts right before you offend 15 millions Haitians.
Haitians around the world are extremely upset and offended by her stupid remarks and want her separation from her employer.
Do you think Delgado should be fired, or does she deserve a second chance? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
