Donald Trump Breaks His Silence About Secretary of State Pick

Donald Trump has spent today announcing various people he is appointing to his cabinet. However, though reports have circulated that Trump is preparing to name Mitt Romney as his Secretary of State, his team has just announced that he has actually made no decision on this crucial position.

“No decision has been made on that position,” Miller told reporters when asked if Romney is still being considered for Secretary of State, according to Breitbart. “He’s looking at a number of very highly qualified potential choices there.”

This came hours after former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee spoke out to heavily oppose the prospect of Romney being appointed Secretary of State.

“He attacked [Trump] on a personal level about his character, his integrity, his honor,” Huckabee, a longtime Trump supporter, stated on Fox & Friends. “When you do that, there’s only one way that Mitt Romney can be considered for a post like that, and that is if he goes to a mic in a very public place and repudiates everything he said in that famous Salt Lake City speech and everything he said after that — Donald Trump wasn’t fit, that he lacked character. I mean, on and on.”

Huckabee was referring to the speech Romney gave against Trump back in March, when he called him a “phony” and a “fraud.”

After the interview, Miller said Huckabee has been a “fantastic advocate” for the president-elect.

“What’s really going to drive the President-elect is the judgment and decision making strengths that he looks at with potential applicants to any position,” Miller said, adding that Trump is “looking for things like chemistry, experience” and someone who has a “similar vision” to him and the Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
