Last week, disturbing rumors surfaced that Hillary Clinton is planning to run for mayor of New York City. This came as a surprise to many, as most had assumed that given her advanced age and her humiliating loss to Donald Trump in the presidential election, her days running for office were over.
Now, a Clinton insider has come forward to put our mind’s at ease by revealing that she believes the former Democratic presidential nominee is, indeed, done with that side of politics. When CNN host Jake Tapper asked Clinton insider Neera Tanden whether Clinton is considering running for mayor, she said she expects the politician to continue her work helping children and families.
“But I don’t expect her to ever run for any elected office again,” said Tanden, according to Daily Mail.
“I think she’s going to figure out ways to help kids and families,” Tanden said of what Clinton will do next. “That’s been what she’s been focused on her whole life, and a lot of issues that are affecting them, over the next couple of years.”
This came a week after it was reported that Democratic donors were begging Clinton to challenge New York City’s current incumbent, Democrat Bill de Blasio, who has had subpar opinion ratings.
“She’s talking about it,” said one source.
“If she ran, she’d win,” another added.
Tanden, however, is doubtful of this.
“I don’t expect her to run for this and I don’t expect her to run for other office,” Tanden said. “I think her job is to – what she’s thinking about right now is how to help those kids and families as she has her whole life.”
Phew! That’s a relief!
