Earlier in the week it was made public that Secret Service Agent Kerry O’Grady posted to Facebook inferring she would not take a bullet for President Trump. O’Grady, a Hillary Clinton supporter in the election, feels that President Trump is “a disaster.” Subsequent to the media controversy that resulted the Association of Former Agents U.S. Secret Service (AFAUSSS), also known as Old Star, decided to expel O’Grady from its membership.
AFAUSSS sent out an email notification to its members on Wednesday informing them of the decision. The vote by the Board of Directors was unanimous in favor of expulsion, according to the email and O’Grady will be notified by registered letter of the Board’s decision.
Via the Washington Examiner: “By 12:00N January 25, 2017, a motion was made by me and seconded and given to the Board of Directors to address the expulsion of Associate Member O’Grady …” Jan Gilhooly, president of AFAUSSS, wrote in the email sent to all members. “[O’Grady] engaged in conduct deemed by a majority of the Board to be detrimental to the Association of the U.S. Secret Service …”
The Secret Service has yet to decide how far to take disciplinary action against O’Grady or whether it will include placing her on administrative leave without pay, which is a common first step for them when dealing with these situations. Thus far they have only said that they have taken “appropriate action.”
