During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump promised to lower costs for American taxpayers. Now, he is reportedly targeting his wife Melania Trump’s office as First Lady for some staff cuts to save Americans more money.
Daily Mail reported that Trump is considering reducing the number of jobs in his wife’s office as she continues to live in New York City with their 10 year-old son Barron. There are 20 jobs available in the First Lady office at this time.
As of Tuesday, Melania has only hired three people to be part of her staff. Her staff currently includes Chief of Staff Lindsay Reynolds, who worked for the George W. Bush administration and White House Social Secretary Anna Cristina Niceta Lloyd, an events planner who has worked on the last five inaugurals and for both Democratic and Republican secretaries of state. Other jobs that are open in Melania’s East Wing staff include communications aides – like a press secretary – schedulers, speech writers, and policy people.
Melania has previously spoken out to say she is taking her time when it comes to choosing her staff.
“I am putting together a professional and highly-experienced team which will take time to do properly,” Melania said in a statement. “I am excited to be organizing and bringing together such a dynamic and forward thinking group of individuals who will work together to make our country better for everyone.”
