Donald Trump’s White House is in panic mode this week, as officials there have noticed that the president has had an unprecedented number of leaks since his inauguration.
The Hill reported that these leaks included a recent New York Times article that claimed Trump’s aides have held meetings in the dark because they can’t figure out how the lights work and that the president is fond of watching television alone in his bathrobe. Serious matters have been leaked as well, such as details about Trump’s infamous phone call with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
“There have been a ton of leaks. It seems that everyone has their own leaking apparatus,” lamented one Trump ally who works outside the White House. The source went on to say that the leaks have gotten so bad that they’re hurting the administration, forcing White House officials to waste their time dealing with internal drama rather than more important things happening in the country.
“I don’t know how it affects morale, but it is certainly a distraction,” the source said. “They have 55 firehoses aimed at them. Enough of the palace intrigue!”
With every leak comes a witch hunt of sorts, as White House official search for clues as to who the leak could be. Experts have warned this has created a sense of ruthlessness in the White House that is not healthy for our nation.
“It’s clear that a few individuals believe that if they kneecap a few of their colleagues, they will benefit — whereas, in fact, they are weakening the president,” said GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak.
