Melania Trump got some bad news this week when her $150 million lawsuit against Daily Mail was dismissed by a judge in Maryland.
The Hill reported that Melania filed a lawsuit against Daily Mail and Maryland-based political blogger Webster Griffin Tarpley in September after they published a story claiming that she worked for an escort service in the 1990s. Daily Mail quickly retracted the story.
The judge ruled that the Maryland court did not have the prosper jurisdiction to pursue a case against Daily Mail, which is based in the United Kingdom.
When she filed the lawsuit, Melania’s attorneys explained why she had filed the case.
“These defendants made several statements about Mrs. Trump that are 100% false and tremendously damaging to her personal and professional reputation,” her lawyer said, according to The Washington Post. “Defendants broadcast their lies to millions of people throughout the U.S. and the world — without any justification.”
We’re saddened that Melania’s lawsuit was dropped, but we’re glad she stood up with herself in the face of these disturbing accusations. SHARE this story if you support Melania Trump!
