During Barack Obama’s sham of a presidency, he made it possible for millions of Americans to go on welfare and freeload off hard-working taxpayers. Now, however, Donald Trump has let these welfare kings and queens that their free ride is officially over.
Conservative Tribune reported that Ajit Pai, the new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, is making moves to cut out waste, fraud and abuse in the infamous Lifeline program, which is better known as the “Obamaphone” program.
The Lifeline program was started in 1985 by Ronald Reagan’s administration to subsidize landline phone service to low-income families. However, the program mushroomed during Barack Obama’s presidency to the point of ridiculousness through massive outreach plans. Thanks to Obama, the budget for this program now sits at $2.25 billion.
A bill is currently in congress to set a cap of the program at $1.5 billion, cutting it almost in half.
Fraud has been a major issue for the program, and a 2016 report of a $51 million fraud investigation of the program was infamously not released until April 1, 2016, one day after the Democrat-heavy FCC was scheduled to vote on the expansion. Pai has been an outspoken critic of the timing of this release.
We’re glad to see the Trump administration is making moves to cut back on this ridiculous program. SHARE this story if you support this!
