Barack Hussein Obama has such an enormous ego that he actually sees himself as one of the most popular leaders of all time. That’s why it was humiliating for him this week when a British politician spoke out to slam him, letting him know he won’t be missed.
Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg got into an argument with Labour MP Jess Philips over whether Obama was a good president during an appearance on Sky News on Sunday. While looking at footage of Obama leaving the White House for the last time, Philips said, “Oh Barack, we miss you.”
“No, we don’t,” Rees-Mogg fired back, according to UK Express. “He was a very unsuccessful American President and his foreign policy was a catastrophe.”
He went on to slam Obama’s leadership, saying he let Russian President Vladimir Putin replace the US as the global power in the region.
“He didn’t even manage to close Guantanamo Bay which he promised to do,” Rees-Mogg said. “He made a complete pig’s ear of Syria, and of the whole of Arab Spring. I’m not saying we did it brilliantly but America lost global leadership in the Middle East and has allowed Putin to take over in terms of policy formation in Syria.”
Rees-Mogg also silenced Philips when he argued that Donald Trump has no business being president.
“The American people voted for Mr Trump and he has got a democratic mandate and I respect democratic mandates,” Rees-Mogg said.
